Historically clothing was used for the sole purpose of maintaining warmth, regulating body temperature, keeping clean, and inhibiting the spread of contagious diseases. Clothing was also an important social ritual. The importance of wearing appropriate clothing can still be seen today in certain parts of the world such as Africa. Here and there communities make it a point to dress up for particular occasions such as going on a fishing trip or going to the market. This attire is called jute and is worn with caps, shirts, and dresses made from cowhide. It is believed that jute offers protection against fire.
In most human societies clothing is a status symbol. Clothes make people feel good about themselves and they are generally considered to be very comfortable. It is a fact that in some cultures the wealth of a family can be reflected by the type and amount of clothing worn by its members. Different social classes tend to have different types of clothing and most important it is the clothing ensemble which is usually worn for day to day activities. Here we will discuss some of the main types of clothing worn by humans. The first type of attire is known as the dress. The dress is an object of ornamentation used to draw attention to a person's appearance. The most famous type of dress is the formal dress, which is worn in most traditional societies such as Japan. The attire may include a kimono (fabric garment) consisting of a front layer of fabric, called an obi, with sleeves or apron. Traditionally the obi is decorated with stones, but nowadays, this is seldom the case, as modern machines are used for this purpose. Another type of article of clothing is the trouser. Trousers are articles of clothing, which are worn around the legs, underpants are the same, the difference being that underpants may contain a sock or some other type of footwear. Trousers are worn for day to day activity and in some countries to get dressed formally. Trousers are worn over trousers. Trousers are very common in North America, but trousers are more common in Western Europe. Trousers are usually plural, and the articles of clothing referred to here are usually worn with pants. Trousers are a form of long Johns, a kind of pantalets. The most familiar article of clothing in a human's wardrobe is the jacket (speaking of jackets, if you want to buy a great one then you have to visit hentschman). But a jacket is not only a clothing item it is also a protective garment consisting of an outer garment, which serves an important function, like protecting the neck or protecting the head from the weather. Jackets are usually worn with a matching shirt or undergarment. A protective garment consisting of a one-piece garment that covers the torso, is called a poncho. Other articles of clothing include shirts, dresses, trousers, skirts and other articles of clothing that we normally use. A number of types of textile items are used in the production of clothes: weaving fabrics, weaving of cloth, dying and finishing. Clothing depends on the materials used and on the method of manufacturing. The clothes we wear are categorized into different groups depending on how they are worn, what they are made of and where they are worn. Some categories are evening clothes, daytime clothes, sports clothes, work clothes, formal clothing, casual clothes, etc. Based on their usage, there are different types of clothing to be worn. A dress is a type of clothing worn for formal occasions. In a wedding, a dress is worn. A suit, tuxedo or a suit jacket is a kind of dress. In winter, a coat can be worn over a dress. The material worn is also very important. Clothes are classified according to the material used i.e. wool, silk, cotton, synthetic fiber, etc. It is the composition of the clothes as a whole that decides the outfit that is to be worn. And this makes it a very complicated task for fashion consultants.
